Weekly Photo Challenge – Free Spirit
All over Australia, in towns large and small, are war memorials just like this one in Rankin Springs. It commemorates the two World Wars and those who fought in them. The inscription on the plaque on the wall to the left reads “In recognition of those families who pioneered the Rankin Springs district earlier than 1930 and whose faith and enterprise have been justified.” The other plaque lists the names of those men and women from the area who served their country in war. Their courage, strength of character and willingness to forge ahead into the unknown helped to create a country whose people can choose their own way forward – truly free spirits.
